Modernism was a global phenomenon from the very beginning. Modernism on the Move explores the diverse artistic developments and international connections that shaped the first half of the twentieth century. Across eight thematic chapters, the exhibition brings together paintings, sculptures, and works on paper from Argentina, India, Japan, Poland, South Africa, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, and the United States. It highlights processes of exchange and convergence as well as questions of autonomy and distinction, offering new perspectives on modernism as a plural and transnational movement.

Featured artists: Beauford Delaney, Alexandra Exter, Karol Hiller, Kitawaki Noboru, Ernest Mancoba, Fahrelnissa Zeid, Grupo Ruptura, and others.
