This catalog is the first comprehensive survey of the sculptural work of Ruth Maria Linde-Heiliger (1916-1996). She began creating her wooden sculptures sporadically in the 1950s. After purchasing her studio and home in Eiderstedt, she devoted herself exclusively to sculpture beginning in 1966, drawing inspiration from the unique qualities of the material. Noteworthy is her consistent focus on the wood itself: its grain, natural form, and origin determine the shape of the works. Organic forms, animal motifs, and abstract figurations combine to create a timeless aesthetic. The publication traces the sculptor's artistic journey and offers a new perspective on a body of work that has been little known until now.
